Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana 2026:- Launched in April 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is a flagship scheme of the Government of India. It is a government-led initiative aimed at providing credit to micro and small enterprises. Under this scheme, loans can be availed through eligible banks, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), and other financial institutions. It operates under the Department of Financial Services within the Ministry of Finance.

Types of Mudra loans under PMMY:

This scheme is categorized into three types based on the stage of the business and financing requirements:

  • Shishu Loan (up to ₹50,000)
  • Kishor Loan (₹50,000 – ₹5 lakh)
  • Tarun Loan (₹5 lakh – ₹10 lakh)

1. Shishu Loan (up to ₹50,000): This scheme applies to businesses in the initial stage, aiming to start very small-scale ventures. Under this scheme, the beneficiary receives assistance of up to ₹50,000, accounting for 74% of the total loans.

2. Kishor Loan: This scheme is designed for those whose businesses are already operational and require additional funds for expansion or asset acquisition. Under this scheme, the beneficiary receives assistance ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh, accounting for 24% of the total loans.

3. Tarun Loan: This scheme is intended for those seeking larger amounts of capital for growth and capacity enhancement. Under this scheme, the beneficiary receives assistance ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh, accounting for 2% of the total loans.

Tarun Plus: Announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, this scheme aims to strengthen the objective of “funding the funded” by enabling the expansion of successful businesses that have already repaid their Tarun loans.

  • PM Mudra loans are available through bank branches and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) across India, enabling entrepreneurs to expand their businesses.

Eligibility Criteria of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana 2026

To be eligible for the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, the following conditions must be met:

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen and an entrepreneur;
  • This includes business owners or operators of small partnership firms.
  • The applicant must be between 18 and 65 years of age.
  • The loan requirement must not be for agriculture-related business activities.
  • Preferred business sectors include trading, manufacturing, and services.
  • The maximum loan amount permissible under the PMMY scheme is ₹10 lakh; therefore, the required amount must be ₹10 lakh or less.

Required Documents

For the Shishu loan:

  • Proof of Identity: Voter ID Card / Driving License / PAN Card / Aadhaar Card / Passport / Any document issued by a government authority.
  • Proof of Residence: Recent telephone bill / electricity bill / Voter ID Card / Aadhaar Card / Passport of the individual/proprietor/partners / Bank passbook or latest account statement duly verified by bank officials / Domicile certificate / Any certificate issued by a government authority, local panchayat, municipality, etc.
  • Recent color photograph of the applicant (2 copies), not older than 6 months.
  • Quotation for the machinery/other items to be purchased.
  • Supplier’s name / details of machinery / price details of the machinery and/or items to be purchased.
  • Proof of identity/address of the business enterprise – copies of relevant licenses, registration certificates, or other documents pertaining to the proprietorship or business entity’s identity or address, if applicable.ote: The loan requirement must not be for agriculture-related business activities.

For Kishore, Tarun and Tarun Plus

  • Proof of Identity: Voter ID Card / Driving License / PAN Card / Aadhaar Card / Passport / Any document issued by a government authority.
  • Proof of Residence: Recent telephone bill / electricity bill / Voter ID Card / Aadhaar Card / Passport of the individual/proprietor/partners / Bank passbook or latest account statement duly verified by bank officials / Domicile certificate / Any certificate issued by a government authority, local panchayat, municipality, etc.
  • Recent color photograph of the applicant (2 copies), not older than 6 months.
  • Quotation for the machinery/other items to be purchased.
  • Supplier’s name / details of machinery / price details of the machinery and/or items to be purchased.
  • Anyone applying should not be a defaulter of the bank.
  • Proof of identity/address of the business enterprise – copies of relevant licenses, registration certificates, or other documents pertaining to the proprietorship or business entity’s identity or address, if applicable.ote: The loan requirement must not be for agriculture-related business activities.
  • Businesses last 2 years income tax return or balance sheet.
  • MSME registration is required.

Application Process of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana 2026

Keep the necessary documents ready, such as:

  •  Proof of identity ( Aadhar card, Voter ID, etc.)
  •  Proof of address (electricity bill, gas passbook, water bill, etc.)
  •  Proof of business.
  • Apply for a loan from any government or non-government financial institution in India.
  • Fill out the loan application, providing your personal and business details, along with a quotation for the business-related expenses.
  • Submit the application and keep the application number safe for future reference.
